Are you tried of all the self-promotion on LinkedIn? Most of the groups I belong to are so full of self-promotion I rarely pay attention to the discussions. I put out the question on two writer’s groups to locate a writer’s group that monitored the spam. The responses were interesting.
Some people don’t mind the spam–clearly those doing it. They say, “We all need to sell our books. So, why not?” Others indicated they didn’t notice too much self-promotion. Duh!
Fortunately a few agreed they wanted to find a place where writers could help writers without constant self-promotion. None knew of such a spot on LinkedIn.
So. . . I started a new group. It’s called Serious Writer’s group. We have a few members now and will build more. The purpose is for writers to share resources with one another. We also hope we will support one another when things get tough (as they will).
This group will strictly enforce the “no” self-promotion rule. If you want to sell your book, join the other LinkedIn writer’s groups. If your book or your service could actually help one of the members in the Serious Writer’s group, then you can privately email that person. You don’t need to tell all of us about it (unless we ask).
If you’re interested, come visit LinkedIn and ask to join us. We welcome serious writers who want to help other serious writers.
